Background

Our co-op was established in 1988 and opened in September 1990. Our property consists of 27 row houses and apartments, located at 416 Elliott Avenue (near Division and Elliott), Kingston, Ontario. Our co-op was developed under the CMHC Index Linked Mortgage (ILM) financing program. We have 20 three bedroom homes, six two bedroom homes (two of which are on one level and designed to be completely accessible), and a one bedroom apartment.

Community Links

We are actively involved with other co-operative and non-profit housing groups operating in the Kingston and Seaway Valley area

SEAWAY VALLEY CO-OP NETWORK (SVCN)

We are involved in a joint co-operative educational and management initiatives with othe local housing co-operatives from time-to-time.

KINGSTON NOT-FOR-PROFIT HOUSING ASSOCIATION (KNPHA)
Both of our staff members have been meeting regularly with other not-for-profit housing managers and staff through the Kingston Not-for-Profit Housing Association. Our members are active in various community development efforts through KNPHA.

RELATIONSHIPS WITH SUPPORT SERVICE AGENCIES
We actively take referrals from a number of different organizations in Kingston whose clients are in need of housing. These include the Housing Help Centre, Interval House, Dawn House and the Kingston Housing Registry. The Housing Help Centre allows for easier "one window shopping" to those looking for housing.

Memberships

We are founding members and active participants of our local association of housing co-operatives, the Seaway Valley Co-op Network. We are full members of the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada (CHF Canada).

We also have informal connections with numerous associations and contacts in the not-for-profit housing sector, including the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association, and the North American Students of Co-operation.

Our Residents

We encourage both potential and existing residents to become involved in both our existing and new developments through our various co-op committees.
